Litigation Associate

REMOTE, CONTRACT

Working from home, the litigation associate will support our litigation department in supervision of litigation assistants, case research, proof reading of pleadings and motions, case management, pre-trial, trial, and post-judgment activities.

Qualifications Required

  • Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
  • Valid Practicing Certificate

Skills Required

  • Communication skills – You must be able to succinctly summarise an argument and be capable of presenting complex legal concepts to clients in both written and verbal form.
  • Organisation skills – You must be able to manage your time and your calendar without supervision.
  • An eye for detail – You need to be able to identify small discrepancies in a case, and be able to determine what is relevant, and what is not, to successfully prosecute or defend a case.
  • Negotiation skills – You must have negotiation and persuasion skills to convince the court or opposition of the value in your argument.
  • Adaptability – You must be able to anticipate and overcome unexpected obstacles that invariably crop up during the litigation process.
  • Tenacity – You need to have the determination to win, and have the strength to maintain composure, and calm, when cases become chaotic and complicated.
  • Computer skills – You must be comfortable using computers and technology in general.

Work Environment

The successful candidates will work on contract remotely and requires the following environment

  • Access to high-speed internet
  • A working computer with a web cam
  • Quiet and professional setting from which to attend court virtually
  • Availability during court hours, but flexi-hours for other tasks.

Remuneration

The successful candidates will be compensated competitively in the range of KES. 30,000 – KES. 80,000 depending on performance.

Law Clerk

FULL TIME ON-SITE
Working from our office in Kilimani, Nairobi the law clerk will support our litigation department through filing of legal documents, delivery of documents within Nairobi, and working with our logistics partners in accomplishing the mandate of the department.

Qualifications Required

  • Post-tertiary education
  • Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous

Call Center Customer Service Representative

REMOTE, CONTRACT
Harry Karanja and Company Advocates is seeking two (2) customer care representatives to join our 24-hour call centre. Working remotely, you will answer calls, onboard clients, manage and organize calendars. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, be tech-savvy, able to communicate through multiple channels, and be super organized.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Answer and direct phone calls
  • Prepare and organize databases and reports
  • Handle confidential employer and client information
  • Schedule meetings and arrange calendars
  • Present excellent customer-service skills to clients and partners
  • Manage client inquiry systems, update records, and organize documentation

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Tertiary level education
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
  • Experience with cloud services, and other technology tools
  • Knowledgeable in technology to communicate via computer, smartphone, or text
  • Highly organized and able to multitask and work well with fast-paced directions and instructions
  • Able to manage time effectively and efficiently
  • Able to organize and manage large amounts of files, tasks, schedules, and information
  • Self-directed and able to work without supervision

  • Strong customer service and presentation skills
  • Able to work nights, weekends, extended hours, and holidays as needed
  • Two years’ previous experience handling assistant or administrative responsibilities, or experience in customer service or related field preferred
